As well as no up-front licence fee, with the Ingres Database you pay only to licence the CPUs that you actually use, and not for the 'worst-case-scenario' according to the potential maximum numbers of CPUs or cores that you might use.

And just in case you're thinking that the downstream annual maintenance and support costs are artificially inflated to compensate for low initial numbers? It doesn't mean that at all.
