Correcting License Problems

Question :

In your previous Tech Tip on licensing, you had a fix that involved a registry edit. When I do that and enter my license again, it still tells me that my evaluation will expire. What's causing that?

Answer :

If there was an older version of TinyTERM on your PC, this can happen. It's caused by multiple copies of the license DLL file on the system.

Search your C: drive for the file CenLic32.dll.

You should have a copy in either C:\Windows\System (for Windows 95, 98 and Me) or in C:\Winnt\System32 (for Windows NT, 2000 or XP).

Leave that copy alone, and delete all the other copies. When you start TinyTERM again, it will use the correct license DLL and run without error.
