Garnett and Helfrich Capital Acquires 20 Percent Stake in Ingres Corporation
Redwood City, California - November 9, 2010 - Ingres Corporation, today announced that venture buyout firm Garnett & Helfrich Capital has acquired CA Technologies last remaining 20 percent equity stake in Ingres Corporation to become the company's sole investor. Terms of the deal, concluded in September 2010, were not disclosed.
"We are pleased with the momentum Ingres is showing in the marketplace with the breakthrough Ingres VectorWise technology," said Terry Garnett, Managing Director of Garnett and Helfrich. "This investment allows us greater participation in what is clearly an exciting and high-growth market."
Garnett & Helfrich Capital's investment in Ingres comes at a time of increasing profitability and exciting growth prospects for the company. Ingres recently announced the general availability of Ingres VectorWise, one of the most significant analytic database technologies of the past 20 years. Ingres VectorWise was hailed as a breakthrough in analytics by Intel Corp when it was first announced last year for the way in which the product exploited the power of Intel chips.
This claim has since been validated by many clients reporting between 10X to 80X improvement in performance over their existing systems and without the need for the complex tuning and schema design normally required for BI projects.
Ingres is committed to building out an Ingres VectorWise ecosystem of partners who can transform the new analytics solution by embedding or reselling the technology, and recently announced a partnership with open source business intelligence provider, Pentaho. In addition, the company has signed several new customers and is preparing to announce several new partnerships.
