Ingres Expands Global Presence and Launches Into Japan
Ingres and NST Partnership Brings Breakthrough Database and Analytic Performance to Japanese Market
Redwood City, California — December 3, 2010 – Ingres Corporation, the leading open source database management company and pioneer of the New Economics of IT, today announced its expansion into the Japanese market via a new partnership with New System Technology (NST), a leading distributor of packaged applications to over 400 local enterprises, resellers, systems integrators (SI) and outsourcers throughout Japan.
NST, selected Ingres for its strong reputation and deep database capabilities, and will offer both Ingres 10 and Ingres VectorWise to its customer base across diverse industries such as finance, manufacturing, pharmaceutics and telecommunications.
“Customers around the world are realizing the value that business intelligence and analytics can bring to their organizations,” said Roger Burkhardt, president and CEO of Ingres worldwide. “The Ingres and NST partnership will offer an enterprise-class database and breakthrough analytics at a much lower price point to existing technologies, giving the Japanese market the ability to deliver rich analytics to all corners of the organization.”
Japan is a world economic power, with the third largest global economy. Entering the Japanese market supports Ingres’s commitment to delivering quality products to global markets.
"There is a strong desire from the Japanese partner community to offer more innovative and cost effective solutions to their customers,” said Nobuaki Noda, president of NST. “We chose to partner with Ingres because they offer our enterprise and midmarket customers a refreshing alternative to mainstream database and analytic database vendors and an opportunity to build complete enterprise solution stacks with Ingres and RedHat."
The Ingres database is an enterprise-grade transactional database used by over 10,000 customers worldwide. Ingres VectorWise, launched earlier this year, is a next generation analytic database that unlocks the power of modern commodity CPUs with a revolutionary database engine that leverages vector-based processing and on-chip memory to provide dramatic performance gains over other databases.
“Red Hat is pleased to build strong partnership with Ingres and NST in delivering innovative open source solutions to the Japan market” said Yuji Hirokawa, president, Red Hat Japan. “In test with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and JBoss middleware, the Ingres VectorWise database delivered compelling performance, and we are confident customers will welcome this solution for its greater value.”
"We are excited that NST has signed as our exclusive Japanese distributor," said Burkhardt. "This partnership marks a significant investment by both companies to provide Japanese partners and customers a compelling alternative to dominant proprietary database vendors.”
